During my Level II blacksmith training, I designed and fabricated the Mag Smith. I created this tool to address a community style blacksmith shop issue: inconsistent hardy hole dimensions across different anvils. By eliminating a need for a hardy hole I solved the most common problem associated with a guillotine tool.

No more worries about hardy hole size or fit. The Mag Smith attaches to the side of the anvil. The Mag Smith can also be used on metal tables, striking plates, or swage blocks

The Mag Smith frame puts the dies directly in contact with the anvil's sweet spot. The frame has an upper and lower die guide. This means the lower die rests on the face of the anvil so it can efficiently react the energy from your hammer blows. And since the frame is attached with the lever-operated magnet, the dies can easily be positioned anywhere along the length of the anvil.

The Mag Smith frame and lever-operated magnet are attached to one another with one piece of threaded hardware. The two main pieces of the assembly can be disconnected and will fit inside a typical hand-carry tool bag.
